Kinklaven Woods #2.24

Writer: dunfermlinepadunfermlinepa

Autumn, 13th October 2024

In contrast to our earlier trip to capture the spectacular Bluebells where access was strictly restricted to the paths we had free access at this time to roam in the Woods and capture some of the first of the autumn colour.  The conditions were ideal, no rain, no wind, a little sun but nothing that would blow out the highlights.

We even managed to stop for some nature photography with one section hosting nuthatches and blue tits as well as an elusive red squirrel and to our surprise a buzzard sitting watching us. One of us managed to catch it flying off.

There was plenty of interest even for the most seasoned woodland campaigners amongst us.  At times knee deep in ferns but thankfully no one picked up any ticks!

Perhaps the only sad part of the trip was seeing that one of the famous Centuries old  “Witness Tree” boughs had split since we were there earlier in the year.
