Summer Trips 22-2 Dawyck Botanical Gardens

A beautiful day spent at Dawyck Gardens in Peebles, great weather and great company led by Gillian Temple and Kenneth Goodfellow. Excellent timing for the spectacular display of bluebells, rhododendrons, azaleas and meconopsis, the famous Himalayan blue poppies. The Café is highly recommended. We had time for a coffee before a morning wander, and to a delicious lunch followed by another chance to explore more of the trails in the afternoon. Dawyck has many woodland and burnside walks, themed tree trails and visitors can follow the adventures of plant explorers such as David Douglas, after whom the Douglas fir is named.

By chance I met in the aprés lunch Susheila Jamieson who created the tremendous new sculpture trail and who told me to keep an eye out for "Harry the Hare".
