The first of May saw seven members of DPA meet at the Halbeath P & R for the first club summer outing to Falkland and Falkland Palace. On arrival in Falkland, the trip started with the usual coffee stop whilst waiting for the Palace and gardens to open. We visited the gardens first taking photos of the plants and trees in bloom. This was followed by a look around the Palace were we were not allowed to take any photos. The Palace trip was followed by an enjoyable lunch stop at the Bruce eaten al fresco in the sunshine. We then went for a walk round the village to take further photos before returning back to Halbeath P & R. An enjoyable day was had by all and we look forward to the next day trip on Sunday 29th May to Dawyck Botanical Gardens.
Falkland Palace, in Falkland, is a royal palace of the Scottish Kings. It was one of the favourite places of Mary, Queen of Scots. A fine Renaissance palace with an extensive formal garden and one of Britain's oldest tennis courts.
